On Saturday, our CEO, Hamza, came back from a 2-week trip to China, where he was preparing the EcoGarden to begin the manufacturing process.Â
It was Hamza’s first time in China, and he described it as: “A different world. Great people, different food, and good buzz!”
So why fly all the way across the world to China?
For more than a year, since we’ve been working on getting the EcoGarden made, we’ve been talking to and working with suppliers and manufacturers in China. Until this month, however, we’ve never had the chance to meet them face-to-face. So this trip was a great opportunity for us to meet these manufacturers and suppliers, make sure that everyone is on the same page, and learn even more about the manufacturing process.
On this trip alone we learned that the EcoGarden will be made of 100% recycled plastic (woohoo!!) and that the suppliers we have chosen are especially keen on recycling and reusing any waste created from manufacturing the parts. That is exactly the kind of manufacturing process we’d hoped to be involved in!
Testing Process & Next Steps
Traveling from Shenzhen to Guangzhou to Changsha and back again, Hamza had the opportunity to see all of the manufacturing facilities firsthand and participate in the testing process.
“One of the highlights of the trip was meeting with the suppliers that we have been communicating with for over a year now,” said Hamza, “and getting to see the EcoGarden come to completion with them.”
Happily for everyone involved, the latest prototype passed its tests and is in good working order! This is a huge milestone for the EcoGarden, and many of you who have been patiently waiting will be glad to hear that things are moving along!
The next step is to go through certification, which is starting very soon. Certification can take up to 30 days, and once that is completed, mass production will begin!Â
Thank you to our supporters
We know that we’re not the only ones getting impatient to see the EcoGarden done and delivered, and we want to give you all a huge thanks for your patience and support over the last year.
This trip to China and the start of the certification process has been a major “to-do” item on our list, and having that process closer to completion really feels like a huge milestone to us. We want to reiterate that we are putting all of our energy towards moving this project along as quickly as possible, while still ensuring that the EcoGarden will work 100% as we envisioned.
We thank you for your understanding as we move the EcoGarden through the final few stages before they’re in your hands.
